Protect Yourself with Strong Estate Planning
I have been wanting to do my Will, Living Will and Medical Directive for awhile, but it always felt so morbid. However, I finally bit the bullet and did it. I did not know, until I took a seminar, that one can devise a revocable trust and merit trust to put their assets in and protect themselves down the line. In fact, I have had one client who bought their home and on the deed it was directly put into their trust, thus protecting them. It is brilliant. It’s almost like an insurance plan for retirement, so that your assets are protected and cannot be used against you should you need long-term care or the like. It also is a way to protect your home and other assets (the irrevocable trust), from getting caught up in probate and undue taxes (I believe) when your successors stand to inherit them. I did not do the trust, but it is set up do that I may at any time in the future.
To truly know how this works take the free seminar at Smith Strong LLC to learn more: “Trust-based planning allows us to protect your assets and retirement from obscene medical costs, continual assisted living or nursing home fees, and in-home care.”
When I did my living will and medical directive I wanted very strong language to protect me from being on any kind of machines that may prolong my life due to horrible illnesses or life events, and I wanted to protect my pets. I am incredibly happy with what Van Smith at Smith Strong LLC did for me. The language is very clear and also releases my loved ones should they “take me to Vermont” (my euphemism), or any other state that allows Euthanasia.
